True Reflections

•August 27, 2012 • Leave a Comment

The times we are living in are fast moving and hectic. Modern technology is altering the way we live, work and consume, supporting a fast and superficial lifestyle. A way to cope with these new challenges is hard to find. Nowadays it seems more and more important to critically reflect on one’s behavior in order to define a viewpoint and find a healthy way to live.

Time flies

I’m looking forward  yet another OFFF festival in Barça, for the inspiration, the break, the complete immersion in the work and world of others plus the catch up with old unusual friends.

I have been working on renovating my space mostly the past few months ‘still’ whilst attempting to keep the creative impetus burning, in paint, pencil audio and verse. I have a few things on the burner which are exciting me some digital but predominately analogue

thankfully my space ‘nameless and untitled’ is taking shape. -  I now have a monitor installed for moving image work, and am contemplating installing a second for exhibition statements and artist biographical information.

Although my initial intention was to exhibit ‘quickly’ I have curbed my impatience and opted to ‘Get it right’ from the very  beginning and by doing so have proved I am able to listen to the advise of others. after all whats the rush?

Exhibition #1

After much consideration opening the door Tanners Hill and showing myself through an exhibition is now imminent.

The show will be as much about the space I inhabit as the artworks on display.

at the expense of time which can never be replaced I have shared myself with Education to fund the space,

Everything is for sale and everything has a price.

I will be the first to admit this looks better in the flesh than it does digitally photographed…
Been working on it as a ‘State of Mind and Circumstance’ piece, although the collection of layered lines still depict fragments of conversation, twitter bullets and passing remarks.

As a triptych it’s very much in it infancy

Was immediately drawn to this wall piece by ‘Unknown Artist’ The adolescent graffiti below the piece I have cropped out the image
It was discovered during a weekend walk down to CockPit Art Studios in Deptford along the side of a railway arch.
the Simplicity and spontaneity  gave it a rich loose feel in the bright sunlight.

I didn’t see anything other than a lot of person empty studios without activity that looked cluttered and tired through the windows at CockPit which felt disappointing, on the flip side Sunday might be a day of rest in the South London Art World?

“Sorry we missed you.” activity

Aural Sculpture
I earlier today recorded for sampling automatic doors closing once more, to aurally illustrate a piece I’m working on.
Which ironically and without prompt was suggested by Nick (Do Not Touch) Hunsley – [Insert url here] today during a telephone conversation.

Part two of my creative excitement today saw my eBay auction bid and win pay fruitful, The depot collection from City Link parcel delivery Beckenham draws ever closer to my sculptural creation with 50 of these delightful wooden hanging items. (see Pic)

Studio details and fisheye views. The standardisation of  materials and equipment offers me the opportunity to develop and experiment with variations prototypes samples and pieces.

I feel 2012 will be a key year in my creative and artistic development, If I’m not taking a risk and prepared to fail then I’m not making the most of my ability.
